Equity ETFs track commonly used equity-based benchmark indices such as the NIFTY 50, BSE Sensex, BANK NIFTY, etc. For instance, if the benchmark index is NIFTY 50, the ETF will have the same stocks which exist in the NIFTY 50, with the same weightage and proportion. Equity ETFs include Banking ETFs, Infrastructure ETFs, Commodity ETFs, etc. These ETFs will have the same stocks as the ones in their respective benchmark index with the same weight and proportion. ETFs have features of both stocks, and mutual funds. It is a basket of securities, just like a mutual fund and trades just like a stock on the stock exchange, where its price fluctuates throughout the trading hours.
